HAVE AN ANDROID PHONE?
We will try to help! No one in our family has an android, so I need to do some research! 🙂

CONNECT BASED ON WHAT YOU AND YOUR KIDS LOVE
Create Magic Gardens based on what you and your kids love. To help you connect with kids, we have created a Connect section with each garden. This section has simple questions to get kid sharing what and how they think to deepen your family connection.

PLAN TO GET DIRTY
Seriously, it feels great to get your hands in the dirt, and kids too love to dig into nature. Experiential learning through messy play is essential for development. DIRT IS GOOD!

BE INSPIRED
The most powerful way to inspire kids is to be inspired yourself.

SUGGESTING VS. STAGING
Have a few key elements in the garden, could be a house, a large rock – a centerpiece that kids play from, then just let them get creative. Make sure all items are stable and safe for the kids to play on/with…..no sharp points or things that stick out. You can stage the entire garden, or you can suggest ideas, and let their creativity soar and build their own Magic Garden.

CREATE A MAGIC BASKET
Have a basket of play things for your Magic Garden. Things that let kids creativity blossom. We have created ideas for each Magic Garden about what could go into the basket based on the theme. Our basket always has sticks, rocks, paint brush, action figures, mini chair, table, Matchbox car, animals, LEGO, fabric, silk flowers, wooden blocks and coins. Consider their age when crafting your Magic Basket.

KNOW YOUR AUDIANCE
At our house, we have a “Garden Hulk” & an “Everything Must Be Perfect Gnome”…… two totally different styles of play. Some kids will jump into the idea of gardening, and some need to be coaxed. Some are careful and gentle and some bust through the garden stepping on everything around them. Plan for who you are building the magic with, it will make it less stressful for you all.

HAVE FUN
Plan to just enjoy the experience whatever happens. There are tips throughout the book to make this more fun and simple. Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy time together, and we find that life is always better when we are in nature, it just is… so have fun.
